The Conversational Leadership Evaluation

Every other assessment tells you what you do. This one tells you why.

A full diagnostic of leadership capability, run as an adaptive AI conversation instead of a questionnaire, and scored against the first rigorously constructed causal map of leadership capability we are aware of. It finds the component that is producing the pattern, then hands you the plan.

Two versions: the Light evaluation, about one hour, included with every Leaderwired Institute membership; and the Comprehensive Diagnostic, four to six hours, built for enterprise and government clients.

The problem with every assessment you have taken

Self-report is where the blind spots live.

A leader can score beautifully on a questionnaire and still freeze, deflect or escalate the first time a genuinely tense conversation lands on their desk. The questionnaire only ever asked them to describe themselves. Organizations pay for that gap twice: once for development that starts in the wrong place, and again when nobody can prove it worked.

The self-report

Nobody accurately rates their own blind spot. That is what makes it a blind spot. People describe themselves generously on exactly the qualities that are hardest to self-rate: composure, reading the room, taking feedback without getting defensive.

The 360

A score per dimension, no explanation. "Low on composure," with nothing about what it looks like in the room or why it shows up when things get hard. The leader files the report. Six months later, nothing looks different.

The symptom, not the cause

Even the honest instruments stop at the pattern. A leader who avoids the hard conversation is told they avoid the hard conversation. Which layer of their wiring is producing it, and what to fix first, stays a guess.

What has been missing is a way to see what a leader does the moment things get uncomfortable, trace it to the cause, and hand them the next step. That is what we built.

The instrument

A root-cause diagnostic, built like nothing else on the market.

Most assessments start from a list of traits and a survey. The Conversational Leadership Evaluation starts from a harder question: what actually drives leadership capability, and what drives that? Answering it produced something the market did not have: a proprietary, tiered causal map of leadership capability, the intellectual property at the core of Leaderwired Institute.

That map is the standard every evaluation scores against. Because it knows which capabilities drive which, it can trace the pattern it observes in a leader back to the cause producing it, and tell you why instead of only what. It is the first rigorously constructed causal map of leadership capability we are aware of, and how it was built stays with us.

358

components of leadership capability in the map, so no part of how a leader actually operates goes unmeasured.

46

groups, arranged in tiers, so the evaluation can tell a root cause from a symptom.

3,277

causal judgements mapping how the groups drive each other, so a visible pattern can be traced upstream to its cause.

How it works

You talk. It listens for the mechanism.

No form to fill in. The evaluation is a conversation by voice or text in your browser, and every next question depends on what you just did.

01

A conversation, not a questionnaire

The AI assessor talks with you about real situations from your own work, and in some moments plays the people in them. Some moments are deliberately challenging. There are no trick questions about you personally, just situations.

02

Adaptive by design

The conversation adapts as it goes. Where a questionnaire asks everyone the same thing, the evaluation follows the evidence: it probes where your answers and your behavior diverge, and moves on where they agree.

03

Traced to the root

What you did is read against the causal map: which components showed up, which group they belong to, and which upstream group is driving them. Pressure is measured on its own, because that is where development actually lives.

04

Handed to the engine

The result becomes a customized personal development plan: the exact Leaderwired Institute courses and AI Coach Anna sessions that address the cause. A later re-evaluation, on different scenes, shows what actually changed.

What you receive

Findings you can act on the day you read them.

Every instrument we build is designed to earn trust first, so that what it tells you is worth acting on. That means the reason behind every finding, evidence you can recognize, and no false precision.

  • Your causal map. Which of the 46 groups are load-bearing for you, and which upstream cause is producing the pattern you already knew you had.
  • Root causes, ranked. The order to work on things, foundations first, instead of chasing the loudest symptom.
  • Behavior under pressure, measured separately. How you lead in normal conditions, and what shifts when it gets hard.
  • Evidence in your own words. Every finding points to a moment in the conversation you can recognize, not a number with no source.
  • Your development plan. The courses and coaching sessions that close the gaps, ready to start inside the Institute.
  • Honest progress. Re-evaluations use different scenes, so a second result reflects real change rather than a memorized replay. When there is not enough evidence to score something fairly, the report says so.

Development, never selection

The Conversational Leadership Evaluation is built to develop a leader, not to justify a decision already made about them. The Light version is included with every Leaderwired Institute membership, with unlimited re-evaluations. The Comprehensive Diagnostic is built for enterprise and government clients and is priced separately.

Two versions

The same causal map. Two depths.

Both versions are adaptive AI conversations scored against the full causal map. They differ in how far down the map the conversation goes, and in who they are built for.

Light

For the individual leader.
About one hour.

  • An adaptive conversation, by voice or text
  • Your load-bearing groups and the root cause behind your pattern
  • A customized personal development plan inside the Institute
  • Included with every membership, with unlimited re-evaluations

Comprehensive Diagnostic

For enterprise and government clients.
Four to six hours.

  • The full depth of the map: 358 components, 46 groups, pressure measured on its own
  • A complete causal map per leader, with evidence in their own words
  • Available as the baseline for a cohort, and the re-evaluation at ninety days
  • Priced separately, scoped through an enterprise inquiry
  • Reporting per learner and per objective, auditable by your own evaluators
Also in the evaluation family

Emotional intelligence, measured where it actually shows up.

Standard emotional-intelligence tests ask a leader to rate themselves. The Conversational EQ Assessment watches. It puts you into a handful of short, real conversations, some with the assessor playing someone from your own work life, and reads what you actually did.

  • A read across five domains of emotional intelligence: self-perception, self-expression, interpersonal skill, decision making under emotional pressure, and stress management.
  • Results grounded in your own words, so every finding points to a moment you can recognize.
  • An honest before-and-after on a retake, using a different set of scenes.
  • Full assessment: five short conversations, about sixty minutes, by voice or typed text in a browser. Snapshot: a single scene, about ten minutes. An individual-contributor version keeps results comparable across a team.
5

domains of emotional intelligence, read from live, pressured conversations.

60

minutes for the full assessment. Ten for the Snapshot.

For organizations

Baseline. Develop. Verify.

A development investment with a starting point, a sequence and proof at the end. Every leader in a cohort begins with the Light evaluation, so development starts in the right place for each of them and the organization has a measured baseline. Organizations that want the full depth can add the Comprehensive Diagnostic, four to six hours that map each leader's capability to the root, priced separately. The Institute does the developing. A re-evaluation at ninety days shows how behavior under pressure moved.

Competency Demonstration Scores and the reporting ledger sit alongside it, per learner and per objective, so HR and the leadership team can see who can now do what.

01

Baseline

Every leader starts with the Light evaluation, so development has a starting point and a sequence. The Comprehensive Diagnostic, priced separately, goes the full depth.

02

Develop

Leaders work through the Institute with the map in hand: the courses their plan prescribes, AI Coach Anna between sessions, reinforcement that holds.

03

Verify

A re-evaluation at ninety days, on different scenes, shows the change. The ledger shows it per learner and per objective.

Questions about the evaluation

Understanding the Conversational Leadership Evaluation

What is the Conversational Leadership Evaluation?
A full root-cause diagnostic of leadership capability from Leaderwired Institute. Instead of a questionnaire, it is an adaptive AI conversation by voice or text that reads what a leader actually does, traces it through a tiered causal map of 358 components, 46 groups and 3,277 causal judgements, and produces a customized personal development plan.
How is it different from a 360 or a personality test?
A personality test asks you to describe yourself. A 360 gives you a score per dimension with no explanation. The Conversational Leadership Evaluation observes your behavior in pressured conversations, measures pressure separately from normal conditions, and tells you which upstream cause is producing the pattern, so the first step is obvious.
Is the evaluation free?
No. It is a full diagnostic and it is priced as one. The Light version (about one hour) is included with every Leaderwired Institute membership at $99 a month, with unlimited re-evaluations. The Comprehensive Diagnostic (four to six hours) is built for enterprise and government clients, priced separately and scoped through an enterprise inquiry.
What is the causal map?
The proprietary standard the evaluation scores against: a tiered map of 358 components of leadership capability, organized into 46 groups, with 3,277 causal judgements describing how the groups drive each other. Because the map is causal rather than a flat list of traits, the evaluation can trace what it observes back to the cause producing it. How the map was built is Leaderwired Institute's intellectual property; what it lets the evaluation do is what you see in your results.
What is the format, and do I need anything to run it?
A conversation in your browser, by voice or typed text, with no facilitator needed. The Light evaluation takes about one hour; the Comprehensive Diagnostic runs four to six hours. You know the format before you start; some moments are deliberately challenging, and there are no trick questions about you personally. The Conversational EQ Assessment in the same family takes about sixty minutes, or ten for the Snapshot.
What is the difference between the Light evaluation and the Comprehensive Diagnostic?
Both are adaptive AI conversations scored against the same causal map. The Light evaluation, about one hour, finds a leader's load-bearing groups and the root cause behind their pattern, and is included with membership. The Comprehensive Diagnostic, four to six hours, goes the full depth of the map, 358 components across 46 groups with pressure measured separately, and is built for enterprise and government cohorts, priced separately.
Can an organization use it as a baseline for a cohort?
Yes. Deployments open with the Light evaluation as a baseline and close with a re-evaluation at ninety days, so every leader's development record starts from a measured point and the organization can see that it worked. The Comprehensive Diagnostic is available for cohorts at additional cost. It is a development instrument, not a selection or promotion tool.

Find the cause. Then fix that.

Start with the evaluation as a member, or bring it to every leader you are responsible for.
